Types of Braces

Self-Ligating Brackets:

The Self-ligating bracket system that we use is a new and technically advanced. It can give you the radiant smile you have always wanted more quickly than traditional braces without the need for uncomfortable ties or elastics. Self-ligating means the brackets do not need ligatures (little rubber bands) to hold the arch wire in place. They use a "door" to secure the arch wire to the bracket. This free-sliding technology places less pressure on your teeth as it gently corrects your alignment. These brackets are generally less noticeable than those of the past and can be metal or clear depending on the patient's preference.

  • METAL - Self-ligating metal brackets are generally less noticeable than traditional braces of the past when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. They are also smaller and have a lower profile than in the past.

  • CLEAR - As an alternative to the traditional metal braces, we also offer ceramic or "clear" self-ligating brackets. These brackets are often preferred by our adult patients, as ceramic braces are less noticeable and discretely blend in with your teeth.
